Our Services

Whether you need a mobile notary for a power of attorney or a school permission slip, you might like to know a little more about the notarial acts that our notary can perform, how the notarization process works and what to expect at your appointment.

General Power of Attorney documents require a Nebraska notary to identify the signer using a valid form of identification, confirm their willingness to sign and sign in the presence of a notary.

Acknowledgements

Used for many of the most common notarizations, an Acknowledgment declares that a signer has willingly signed a document. Acknowledgement certificates are commonly attached to documents such as a living will, power of attorney and trust amendments.

The document principal MUST appear in person before the notary, be positively identified by the notary, sign the document and also declare/acknowledge signing the document for its intended purpose. Acknowledgement certificates are commonly attached to documents such as a living will, power of attorney and trust amendments.

Jurats

Sometimes referred to as “verification upon oath/affirmation”, a Jurat is used when a document requires the principal signer to swear to or affirm that the contents of the document is true. Jurat certificates are commonly attached to documents such as affidavits, depositions and sworn statements.

Similar to an Acknowledgement, the signer MUST appear in person before the notary and be positively identified by the notary. However, a Jurat requires the signer to not only sign the document in front of the notary but also take an oath/affirmation administered by notary, requiring a verbal response.

Notary as a Document Witness

Document Witness

If your document requires one or more impartial witnesses to observe a signer put pen to paper, our notary is happy to help in a non-notarial capacity. Notaries make an excellent choice for document witnesses for the integrity and impartiality they bring to the process.

Typically, the only information needed from document signers is the date, time and location of the appointment and a notary will be there to witness the principal sign their document. It is important to note that a notary acting as a document witness in a non-notarial capacity CANNOT also notarize the document.
